TBR Tuesday

TBR Tuesday

Today is August 1, 2017

-Where has the year gone? Summer is in full swing and I have been getting quite a lot of reading done.

My Current Read is:

The Secret History, by Donna Tartt

I keep seeing this book mentioned in other books or in social media posts and I felt like the universe was telling me to read it.
It’s good so far, not something I normally would’ve picked up; in fact, I tried to read The Goldfinch in 2015 because it won the Pulitzer and everyone was raving about it, but I couldn’t get into it at the time. If I enjoy The Secret History I will give The Goldfinch another shot.

-I also have a few ARC’s that I have been approved to read. The one that I am most excited about is Little Fires Everywhere, by Celeste Ng.

Some Recent Purchases include:

The Grace of Kings, by Ken Liu
The Heart’s Invisible Furies, by John Boyne (BOTM)
Bed-Stuy is Burning, by Brian Platzer
The Obelisk Gate, by N.K. Jemisen (Broken Earth #2)

New books that I am looking forward to in August are:

8/15The Stone Sky, by N.K. Jemisen (Broken Earth #3)
8/15Home Fire, by Kamila Shamsie
8/28Wonder Woman: Warbringer, by Leigh Bardugo

So far, this year I have read 78 out of my goal of 100 books!

What is everyone else reading this week?
Any books you are looking forward to being published in August?
Any recommendations?

As Always, Happy Reading!

  1. I’m currently reading this book at bought at a bookstore in Jamaica when I was there last year and never cracked open “The Book of Night Women”. Takes place during slavery in Jamaica. The author’s writing style so far is captivating. It’s written in the voice of a native so I had to adjust at the beginning, but it’s native to me so it didn’t take me long to adjust and like it.
