About

My Name is Christina Carboni. No one calls me Christina, though, unless I owe them money. I generally go by Nina. I am an avid reader, and a complete newbie blogger.

I started this blog because I love reading great books and I have excellent taste. Just kidding, while that is true, I really wanted to reach out on the world wide web and connect with fellow readers and recommend books that I love and hear feedback from people.

I chose the name @yeah_i_read_ for my bookstagram account and Litsy because, and I’m sure all you little bibliophiles will know, people ask me what I do in my spare time or for a hobby; and I say “oh, I love to read” and they say “what? you mean, like, books?” and after having some version of this conversation a million times my general response is “yeah I read.”

My first love in reading is Historical Fiction. I love learning about events and world history through stories of people who experienced it first hand. I think I have learned more about history from fiction than I ever did at school.

But last year I was in a severe book funk. I couldn’t get into anything I picked up. it was like book purgatory! I reached out to my fellow reader friends, all two of them, and they suggested trying a different genre. Well now I’m hooked on YA Fantasy, Sci-Fi, and Dystopian Fiction.

The last few books I have read are…

  • American Gods (I am now OBSESSED with Neil Gaiman) March 2017
  • American War by, Omar El Akkad (a complete coincidence) April 2017
  • Strange The Dreamer by, Laini Taylor (I need the next one asap) April 2017
  • The Drowning King: A Fall of Egypt Novel by, Emily Holleman (review posted) April 2017
  • The House of Names by, Colm Toibin (review posted) April 2017 *May publication

So that’s me. I also have some offspring and a husband. I am currently the sole caretaker of our abode and my man brings home the bacon, as it were.
